Organ donation

Ali and i have been talking for years about donating our organs when we die, but have never really got round to do it, with one thing or another distracting us or us just getting on with life.

However with the marvel of modern technology you can now sit in front of the TV and be playing about on your I pad.  I was watching the news and a really moving story came up about a lady and the loss of her niece in to a terrible illness and how the family made their decision to help other people continue their lives with the aid of the the nieces organs.  This sparked up the conversation at home again and using the pad i looked up the ladies page on facebook

One Moment of your Time

There she told a bit more about her campaign to help people like us that have been thinking about decision at our deaths and gave us the link to the NHS organ donation register, when i clicked this i found is really simple to do and it took less than a minuet to complete.  There was no question we both completed the details for the register.  Neither of us have done this to make us feel good about ourselves, but with such a shortage of organs for seriously sick people with many of the people dying before receiving an organ to save their lives.  Apparently there are 60 million people in the UK and only 30% have signed up to the NHS Organ donation register

Being big on recycling at home this seems a good way to recycle when i am gone and help give life to people who are in critical need of organs.  Maybe if your reading this and feel as touched as we were you may want to think about signing the register also and giving some one the chance to see out their lives with a little piece of you helping them.

  1. I think this is brilliant and every one should do it. I was at one time waiting for a new heart and lungs but thankfully for all good new meds i dont need to have this at present but maybe some day i shall have to this done. I have a illness called Primary Hypertension and some people have been fortunate enough to have the transplant and live a good life others not so fortunate i am afraid. I think that if you do this then a part of you is still alive and helping someone live a good life. :)
