5 days before Christmas, and we are getting excited although the last two nights have been pretty awful.
The problem with sleeping with your daughter is any mishaps are a major bed changing activity, 2 nights ago i was awoken in bed at 3 am by a lovely warm wet feeling as Sophie's nappy had failed her and we had a leek on one side. As she was cuddled up tight to me we both shared the experience and a confused and wet Sophie had to wake up and get out of bed as a grumpy mummy did a bed change on a king size bed then clean and change Sophie before we could get back into bed to sleep.
Last night wasn't much better Ali wanted a Chinese for dinner and we got special fried rice which gave him food poisoning, this is the third time he has had food poisoning from the restaurant i think we may have to find a new one. So poor Ali was up and down and up and down again throwing up all night long, vomiting so hard he was bringing up blood and having a nose bleed.
So the night started badly with not much sleep for anyone except Sophie. Who then decided she would get in on the action and suddenly woke up and threw up massive amounts of sick all over my clean bed which now had two duvets on it as it was cold and managed to cover 3 pillows and a base sheet. It was like a scenes from the exorcist and as i had just fallen asleep after listening to Ali last rendition down the toilet it was quiet a shock to be awoken with splats of vomit. Its very strange as Sophie had no Chinese food and we think she may have been having a sympathy vomit for her daddy.
So after another bed change and a worrying look about for new bedding which is now mis matched odds and ends as the last lot is still drying from the peeing incident the night before, and thank goodness i held on to a old duvet else we would have nothing to cover ourselves as the vomit was particularly of the wet and smelly variety and soaked through all the bedding and duvets.
I was awoken by Sophie at 7 am and you would of thought she would have let me stay in bed after the last two nights but no, her firsts words were hungry breakfast. Bless she is so demanding. Ali slept in and was a typical ill man and spent most of the morning horizontal on the sofa nursing himself. Poor thing i hope he gets better fast as last year we had a sick Sophie on Xmas day and it would be rubbish to have a sick Daddy this year.
Sophie got her breakfast and delt with the many piles of vomited on bedding, clothes and splats around the bathroom, toilet and walls. Finally i got dressed as today we were heading to Waitrose to get the last nicer bits for the Xmas feasting including the turkey. Ali usually comes to this as he love to pick and choose some yummy bits and help choose what sort of turkey we get, but he could barely talk let alone get dressed and come shopping.
Sophie meanwhile was fit as a fiddle and had decided that actually today she would be a fairy and had to be dressed accordingly, as the picture above shows. I think this has something to do with us watching a panto of Jack and the Beanstalk and Julie Waters was a fairy and Sophie loved it as the fairy had a wand and was very pretty. So i headed off to the shops. Can you imagine me shopping with Sophie in this over poofy pink tutu and a pink feather in her hair. Yes i did get some looks and she got a lot of lovely older ladies come up especially to talk to her and telling her how pretty she was and how lovely her pearls were. Shopping went well and i headed home with the prize turkey.
Lets hope Ali gets better fast and tonight i might get some sleep with out being awoken by some bodily liquid of some sort.
