Maori, butterfly and rose face painting

Half term and Sophie wants the paints out i don't mind as i get to practice practice practice.  I got a bit bored of the pretty and wanted to try something different which meant Sophie had to practice herself at being less wriggly, while i did this Maori face painting.  Later we went out and she got a lot of looks and comments about it being different and good, by the time we got home it was a bit smudged so she asked for a new face paint so i wanted to try doing roses as they can be tricky and of course we needed a butterfly for her other cheek.

How does your garden grow May week 5

Another week and we have had a few days of sunshine but mostly much rain and wind.  This week i thought i would focus on something gardeners hate WEEDS!!  Actually i don't mind weeds well in moderation anyway.

Flower facepainting

Rain rain go away pretty flowers come to stay.

Looks like the nurturing skills of owning a rabbit are paying off

Flower pressing

With all the interest in the garden recently i thought i would show Sophie about flower pressing.
So out we went to the garden and picked a selection of flowers and brought them back to the kitchen to lay out on paper and look at.  Once we had laid these out we got some of my big heavy cook books and  rested these on top of the flowers for 3 days. and hey presto Splat flowers as Sophie puts it.

Sensory soap dough

Its raining hard outside and with our noses pressed to the window wondering where the sunshine has gone Sophie and I resign ourselves to staying trapped inside and looking to try something new to play with.  We saw this recently from the creative playhouse and couldn't wait to try it.

How does your garden grown May week 4

This week on How does your garden grow we have been working on our hanging baskets and some pots.  Seeing as last week all the colours seemed to be greens and red we have injected some blues into the garden pallet.

New member in the family

Today we got a new member to the family.  A baby bunny for Sophie as a present from the baby in mummies tummy to Sophie.  Sophie has named the rabbit herself and after thinking for 3 days came up with the name of Funny bunny!

We are hoping that she gets on well with the rabbit as she is a bit unsure of the whole pet thing since she was bitten by a dog in the face, and even though we have cats one we never see the other she has slowly been building a relationship with but again that cat is a bit anti social as Sophie is a tad noisy and when she stroke the cat tolerates it.  But so far so good with Funny Bunny

How did you feel about a 2nd child

This week i am asking how did you feel about your second child joining the family?

There are so many posts out there about adjusting your first child to the new arrival. For parents there are check list of getting ready for the new arrival like packing your hospital bag and making sure the nursery is ready etc.  There are even posts out there about how neglected fathers feel.  But very little about how you as parents or a mother might feel.  Strange as this sounds i am and my hubby are experiencing feelings about the reality and this new person.  We have got quiet used to the three of us, our routines and how Sophie dictates our day and how we all interact together as a family.  How is adding a forth member to mix going to change us?

Vintage Vehicle Rally

This weekend we went to a Vintage vehicle rally and saw every sort of vehicle to satisfy any petrol head.

We Love Eurovision night

WE LOVE EUROVISION NIGHT!!

There i said it we are officially out of the closet and have told the world.  Every year we have a Euro vision party at home and really get into the spirit of it all.  We love the Cheese the singing is rubbish the voting is rigged but it is a fun night there are the weird and wonderful to see like 7 foot tall men carrying women on the stage or women they have dresses that elevate them 10 foot in the air.

We love our commentator Graham Norton and his cutting remarks that make us laugh.  Its just a good fun night we we all critic the act, sing and dance along in Sophie's case while daddy places bets and gets half cut.

How does your garden grow May week 3

This week in how does your garden grow, there has been nothing but rain.  Although we have been trapped inside this hasn't stopped the garden exploding in colours and shapes.  Our Bluebells in the garden have all popped out and you can imagine the tiny tinkles as their heads wave in the breeze.

Peacock facepainting

Sophie got a new outfit with a big peacock and new tutu so we had break open the face paint and have a go at some feathers, however i'm not so happy with these designs i think i will have to go away and have a mull on what to do.  We did 2 designs one with hearts and swirls is an utter mess and looks like my face paint vomited on the side of her face i was trying to pick up on her t-shirt with the hearts and i'm really unhappy with the eye area. The peacock feather could be a lot better so i need more practice as well as having a less wriggly child.

Allianz Global Assistance

We had a wonderful holiday where we visited Thailand there was a longest flight with stop overs at Singapore.  On such a long journey we got to know some of our fellow travelers and chatted which was great for passing the many hours stuck trapped on an aeroplane.

For the love of god EAT your dinner!!!

Aston Clinton village fair

It Sunday and its fair day we started out by visiting the boot fair to get Sophie some bargain toys and she found a Beany frog called smoochie, a magic wand, and a Dr's kit and only spent a £1 for the lot, lucky girl.

How does your garden grow May week 2

Mammasaurus has started a new linky how does your garden grow. With the long winter and never ending cold it is lovely to see so many bright blooming plants promising bursts of spring and summer.  So here here is our garden in bloom so far although i think the weeds are making a tactical effort to take over.  However Daddy and the veg patch are winning the war with promises of delicious treats for the year.
