How does your garden grow May week 3

This week in how does your garden grow, there has been nothing but rain.  Although we have been trapped inside this hasn't stopped the garden exploding in colours and shapes.  Our Bluebells in the garden have all popped out and you can imagine the tiny tinkles as their heads wave in the breeze.

The Japanese Maple is bursting forth in a riot of red colour adding a lovely contrast to all the fresh greens springing up around garden, The Maples also have their striking spiky shape which also adds a contrast against to soft curves of tender leaves..

Our herbs are busy getting bushy and the green sage sitting next to the purple sage looks lovely, and it almost seems a shame to pick them.
With all the fresh greens, riots of red and beautiful blues it is nice to see accents of white softening the spring colour pallet with big towering blooms.
Other edibles bursting forth in the garden is the Rhubarb and although small for now the structure of the leaves promise large ground coverage ready to hide the future pink stems of the fruit later in the year.
Even the smallest plants don't escape the rain and the droplets of rain sit perfectly on the leaves as if like umbrellas.

  4. I really want to grow purple sage now! Come to think of it we haven't any in our herb garden here. I'll remedy that this weekend - is it hard to grow? I seem to be quite lucky with most herbs but thyme has always been a bit of a sod for me!
Your Japanese Maple is like a huge version of our tiny Acer which we were given when my husbands Nan passed away last year - I always think the leaves look ever more vibrant on duller days.
Lovely photos, here's hoping to a better week this week weather wise!

    1. the sage and thyme was really easy to grow as we put it in a sunny place maybe that helped ? We had the maple from a twig which we had potted for 5 years then we moved and planted it out and it gets better and bigger every year. fingers crossed for some sun next week

  6. Fab :) you have totally reminded me of how much I love growing Sage too - such a rewarding plant and so pretty, I never expected that somehow. Beautiful pics too. I agree with you on all your lovely plants, but especially the splashes of white. I am desperate for a white hydrangea or five. Are they hydrangeas in white? I don't know. Love 'em anyway.

  7. I love bluebells but we don't have any in our garden. Do they take on a life of their own and self-seed everywhere or are they easy to contain?
