Reward charts continued

Our reward charts are doing well and Sophie has really got the concept and we have now found her motivation being that she is a movie buff so our local cinema is perfect for rewards but is a darn expensive to go to, can you believe it cost £30 for a kid and adult with a popcorn and drink these days !!!                                                                                                                                                                                 We have done reward charts before but these were pretty simple and in fact a bit lazy on my part to be honest, i dont just do A4 sheets of white paper.... The old charts were far to simple and were boring bits of paper with a title for areas to improve in like eat dinner etc but there were things i didn't like about the old reward charts like they were really dull to look at and not at all inspiring she earnt rewards easily in some areas and was slow in others.  Also it was hard to manage multiple charts when counting stickers to total to a reward.  So a redesign was needed

So if your doing a redesign and making something that is to help and inspire a little one the best thing i thought to do is get Sophie involved right from the start so she felt part of the process, we wanted something
Big and Colourful to catch the eye so we went BIG with some Giant art, setting Sophie out in the garden and giving her some wallpaper liner and a set of paint pens she got busy creating something bright as the back drop to her reward chart, Sophie like drawing so this was a good activity to keep her busy to.   She also felt proud that she made something that was being used as a tool and was hung up in the house.
As we had created this big giant art we needed to add some pictures to it and after a discussion we decided on pictures of things that went up so we spent a good hour Googling pictures that started from the ground and went up in to the sky and as high as Sophie could imagine, we started with flowers and fairies, up to bubbles and helicopters to stars and moons and finally planets right at the top, we stuck these on the giant art but i think next time we make one of these for the next rewards i must remember to make these pictures smaller so Sophie giant art is more of the feature of the reward chart.

Sophie is going to the next level of school in September so to help her start to recognise numbers i wanted to place numbers all the way up the chart.  The cinema as mentioned is on the pricey side so we set the reward of 40 stickers, lots of numbers there to learn!!!.  Finally not to forget the goal Sophie wanted to achieve we put a picture of the thing she wants right at the top.  Now to start the epic ascent to the top, the good thing is it can take a while to climb to 40 which at least gives my poor purse a chance to recover
