There is paddling pools and then there are paddling pools with a difference, we choose to spice ours up a bit and making it more fun and add some exploring fun by turning it into a frog pond.
We have a two level paddling pool so we only blew up the first level so it wasn't so high, i put a plastic sheet inside i don't know why i think i was trying to give it gentle sloping edges but that didn't happen, then i put plants around the edge to make it feel pond like. Sophie got her foam roses and planted them in sand and we also made some Lilly pads from Styrofoam as they float on water and painted them green.
In our pond we put some logs for the frogs to sit on and some big smooth stones to play with making a sea monster rock area that had a big octopus, a mermaid and a beetle or two. We also made a frog zone where we added loads of marbles to pretend they were frog spawn they looked interesting in the water as they were clear in clear water and fun to play with. We had a number of balls some floated and some sunk, magnetic and plastic fish and of course no self respecting pond would not be complete with out some rubber ducks.
The good thing about making the frog pond is that we made the water shallow so it heated up really fast in the sunshine which was perfect for a paddle for little Ella to col her toes off in
