Slime the UK version

There are lots of recipes on the internet to make slime but most of these are for the US and use products like Sta flo Starch and Elmers glue which cant be got in the UK unless you order them from the US so i really wanted to make this but find a way to do it with UK products.  I had quite a lot of experimenting and failings as you can see below but finally i cracked it

You need to pay attention to the mix and how it feels as one wrong move and you end up with a rubber lump of  glue like the above.  One of the major issues i had and i had loads, was that in the UK we all use white PVA glue in the US they have Elmers glue which has a special glue composition which can be used in all sorts of crafting and experimenting and it also comes in clear as well as white.  They also have Sta flo starch again made with a unique composition and normal starch is not the same as this so i had a lot of fails trying to use normal UK stuff.

Once i got a break through on some easily sort UK products my troubles didnt stop there as mixing them together has to be done just right else it wont work.  Now i know this probably sounds like a real faff already but trust me its not once you know how to do it.

Method
In a separate bowl mix
1 cup of water
1 tsp borax
this can be used for 3 batches of slime

Then mix together
1 cup of PVA glue
1 cup of water
you can add food colouring and glitter if you want but if your adding glitter your use a lot as it is opaque glue we used 5 tubes and still it wasn't very shiny.

OK that is the easy bit now here is the bit to focus on as the consistency can change quickly so slowly and carefully does it, i tried to do step by step picture so you can see the consistency change dont worry in 8 tsp it will all be compleated.

Add 1/2 a tsp of your borax water mix to the glue and mix mix mix your notice strings gathering in the glue like below

Continue to add 1/2 tsps of borax water and mix well each time more of the glue will come together but there will still be the wet glue liquid left in the bowl keep mixing by the time you have added and mixed 5 full tsp it should look like the below keep squidging and squashing it about
you will probably need only 3 more tsp so 8 in total keep adding slowly and mixing well, you see the liquid will get incorporated suddenly and it will change and turn into slime the more you play with it the better it becomes

Slime is lots of fun even i could help but to play with it with Sophie if you move it fast it clings together which is handy for getting it off your hands if you move it slow it drizzles and drips and if you move it inbetween it stretches. it is also easy to clean up all you need to do it run your hands under the tap and they are clean.
