We have a ever green tree that i always forget that this time of year does its own unstated thing with delicate new foliage and even tinier delicate white bell shapes flowers that attract the local honey bees.
Here is another flower that small yet delicately blousey and a lovely shade of pink. and if you remember the ferns that were all curled up a few weeks back are now in strength and very Jurassic park.
Not only do we have the tiny California poppy's but we have these HUGE orange blousey beauties i love them so much and the patch i have grown started with just one now i have loads. I also love the cases they come in before they burst which look rather alien.
We have a couple of fruit bushes that we have grown from a single twig and each year they are getting bigger and bearing fruit although we have yet to taste any of it as we seem to be fighting the local blackbird for the rights over it.
The peony in my front garden has finally opened too! And it looks very similar to yours :)
ReplyDeletepeonies are just lovely arnt they
DeleteWow, so much colour I am very jealous. I have just been bemoaning that my peony hasn't flowered yet. By the sounds of it I'll be waiting several more years. Worth it though!
ReplyDeletei think you have to make sure their roots arnt to deeply planted a tip from Alan Titchmarsh that helped my peony as they are very sulky plants but when they get going they spread
Deleteoh how beautiful!! i have such peony and poppy envy right now. poppies always remind me of growing up in portugal...
ReplyDeletepoppies are my favorite so i named my first daughters second name after them Sophie poppy
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous of your poppy. We used to have a gorgeous big red one, but it didn't come up last year and no sign of it this. I guess it has gone.
ReplyDeleteI have the big red ones too if the rain ever stops ill try and get a shot of them what i really want now is some oriental poppies
ReplyDeleteLove that hairy poppy bud!
ReplyDeleteisn't it great :)
DeleteWasn't that gorgeous worth the wait, it's magnificent. I'm drooling over your gooseberries, I love them :)
ReplyDeletei hope we win the war against the blackbirds this year
DeleteI too have been wondering why my peony hasn't flowered since I planted it a few years ago. I googled and found that it takes a few years to establish.
ReplyDeleteI also read about it not being planted too deeply.
At least now I know it may take a while to flower but I can imagine my excitement when it finally does!
I have a fern and I love how it uncurls :)
yes i almost gave up on it until the Titchmarsh gave some advice on the Chelsea flower show. Ferns when they are un curling are just lovely.
DeleteFab! Such an exciting time in the garden :)
ReplyDeletelets hope the rain holds off and gives us more sunshine for more flowers to bloom
DeletePoppies! Yes! Love poppies - and orange ones look so cool.I love the evergreen with the tiny white flowers too - such colour this week. I wonder if the gardens can keep this up all summer long? I do hope so!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in again, your sunny photos have made me smile :)
well im also looking forward to autumn, your pictures were very lovely too
DeleteWhat a riot of colour it is lovely. Our garden is still very green and not much colour at all yet, it is great to see in your garden.
ReplyDeleteWe definitely need lots more sun to bring out the blooms
DeleteYour 'alien' poppy is fantastic but I covet the gooseberries. We don't have any room for fruit here but if I had a bigger garden it would be the first thing I would plant.
ReplyDeleteA few years back we lost the gooseberries to the blackbirds so went to a pyo got loads and made some fab jam I hope to get the berries this year from our own garden before the pesky birds do
Deletemore beautiful Aquilegia, love them! My Peony is the same colour, the rain as usual as come to weigh them down! The Californian Poppy is fabulous, I have these too, some are yellow too.
ReplyDeleteYes i had to shake off all the rain drops before taking the picture as it had a heavy head
ReplyDeleteYou have some gorgeous plants. Peonies are so pretty but I always feel cheated when they only flower for about a couple of weeks in the year!
ReplyDeleteSome fabulous flowers - I love the poppies, they're fantastic. I might be a bit biased though, my daughter is called Poppy :)
ReplyDeleteyes Sophie's middle name is poppy after such lovely flowers
DeleteI didn't realised it take three years for peony to bloom. Worth waiting for.
ReplyDeletemine did and i think they were worth the wait
DeleteI have serious poppy-envy!! Wow they are gorgeous! And what amazing buds they have. Just lovely xx
