Butterfly world The Hot house

We took a trip to Butterfly world at St Albans as a treat for Sophie as she loves butterflies and anything nature related, it was a grey day and mid week and the afternoon which was just brilliant as it was not crowed at all in fact we didn't really bump into anyone for most of the day, but there was 20 acres of meadows and grounds to walk about.

As soon as we got inside the venue we headed straight for the Tropical hot house of the most beautiful butterflies.
Sophie was amazed and delighted to be dive bombed by huge butterflies that as they fluttered by your head you could hear their wings beating.

There were about 20 different species of butterflies all dancing about as if they were doing ballet in the air

The hot house was a hive of sexual tension as males chased females and in secluded spots on leaves and branches pairs of butterflies had paired up and were mating and the evidence of the eggs were laying on the leaves for all to see.
With sexually charged butterflies and leaves full of eggs next comes alien looking caterpillars here are two and their heads are really stunning to look at.

Dis-closer this is not a paid or sponsored post just a place we visited and really liked and thought was great value for money.

  1. Stunning pictures! I have a rather strange but acute fear of caterpillars though so I would have to view them from afar! :D
