Whisky marmalade steamed pudding

Great british blogger bake off week 7

Signature suet puddings
technical chox buns
showstopper 3 types of pastry

As autumn is drawing in and we are lighting our fire and some lovely steamed pudding with lashings of custard just feel so right.  I also made some marmalade for this recipe which you can find here.

Ingredients
150g suet
150g sugar
150g fresh white bread crumbs
2 tsp orange flower water
Grated zest of 1 orange
2 eggs
75ml milk
8 tbsp marmalade
6tbsp self raising flour
butter for greasing

Place the suet, breadcrumbs, sugar and mix well next add the orange flower water, zest, eggs, milk and half the marmalade then sift in the flour to make a nice stiff mix.  Butter a 1.5 liter pudding bowl and add the rest of the marmalade to the base of the bowl followed by the mixture.
Cover the bowl in a disc of grease proof paper.  place a large peace of foil topped with grease proof paper and fold a pleat in the middle and place grease proof paper side down over the pudding and secure under the rim of the bowl and tie with string to keep in place and then make a handle.                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Place a small plate in the bottom of your saucepan and place your bowl of mix on top of this and pour in the pan half way up the bowl boiling water and allow to come to the boil, then simmer for 2.1/2 hours.  top up with water if need be and let rest for 10 mins before turning out

  10. Wow I can't believe your husband doesn't like cake! Mine does but is trying to loose weight so gets quite grumpy about the whole business. I didn't hear him complaining as he dived into the profiteroles tonight though ;) thanks for your comment, it was the first clue I had that I'd got star baker. So ridiculously happy it's daft!
