New years eve / day

Happy new year and what a lovely evening we had. Uncle Andrew came to visit and Sophie could not wait to see him again and ran to the door shouting uncle, when he tapped on it. Pretty soon Sophie had Uncle just where she wanted him. Poor uncle pinned to the floor by a two year old.

We tucked into a supper of some big tiger prawns which I marinated in chilli, garlic, lime zest and juice, I griddled them which made them really sticky.

I also made a fresh batch of frangipane mince pie for Uncle Andrew this time Instead of icing sugar to top them I used luster dust to make them sparkle, I also gave the fruit a second soaking in brand just to be decadent.

Sophie was allowed to stay up until 9.30pm which made her very happy as she got to spend lot of time with her Uncle.

Midnight was soon approaching and we were finishing our fourth bottle of bubbly and we felt happy and merry.

At 11.30 the boys got ready to let off fireworks and took 30 mins prepping which was perfect for our display to start at midnight.

I laughed so much as two tiddled boys tried set off two fireworks at the same time with lighters and the wind blowing out the flame and one making the connecting while the other didn't and running scared down the garden
We had some excellent fire works and Ali did us proud with some awesome and massive fireworks one was 1.4g and a professional firework starts at 1.6g so you can understand how massive it was, it made us all shriek or whoop with excitement.

We tried to light some wish lanterns but it turned into a bit of a disaster as it was too windy and paper got blown into the flames. Maybe we will try tomorrow or save them for another time.
Sophie didn't wake at all while the fireworks were going off but as soon as she heard us talking down stairs she awoke and ended up coming back down stairs to spend time with her Uncle.  We watched the London Firework display on TV and Sophie was amazed as we all were at the shear amount of fireworks that were let off this year, and we loved that they set some off from Big Ben which we hadnt seen before finally at 2.30am heading to bed although Sophie kept mummy up till 4am.

The next day we had another nice day and we all had lunch together where mummy made a tasty roast rib eye of beef  with yorkshire puds and lovely roast potatoes in goose fat, i even made some gravy using mulled wine and port and put onions in it just to say good bye to Christmas for another year.
After dinner a nice sleep for Sophie was in order and daddy certainly planned a snoozed on the sofa.
