Ali's New York trip

Ali has been away working in NewYork for the last two weeks the lucky bugger !  This has been some where we have both wanted to go to but have never got to and now we have Sophie it looks like a trip like this would be even further down the line to take.  But at least Ali has had the opportunity to visit the city that never sleeps and can sus it out if we all get to go one day.

This is the view from his office window and he was working in the New York times building.

On his weekend he went to visit ground zero and saw all the amazing work the city was doing to restore the area even after 11 years has past.  there was a sculpture that caught his eye and he wondered what it was and he thought it was a piece of modern art but it wasn't until he got closer and saw that it was actually the Sphere sculpture that was crushed in all the devastation, and had been placed there as a memorial to all of those people that lost their lives in the tragedy.
There was also other memorials called reflective waterfalls where the twin towers stood and around the edge of the waterfalls were carved all the names of the people that lost their lives in the 9 11 disaster.

later that evening Ali went to Time square and was amazed at the large amount of people going about their business, going to shows, dinner and shopping etc and the lights were a riot of colours.

On his other day off he went to visit the Intrepid which is now a museum in the docks

Here is a cold war submarine
This is the black bird

Before he came home the Space shuttle was retiring to a museum and did a fly by over New York city before landing for the final time and being in one of the tallest buildings he got one of the best views of the shuttle

I think Ali got to indulge in all his New York fantasy's seeing space shuttles, the Intrepid and it was good to see this did stop at his diet as he ate this thing below ERG! apparently its a Philly cheese steak.
Before he left he knew that he could come home from the US with out bringing his girls some pressys and he found Macys and picked up a couple of little gifts that he could fit in his hand luggage

  9. We went to NY the year before our daughter was born and it is an amazing city. I'm usually more of a country person, but I fell in love with New York and would go back in a flash. The food portions were enormous! I hope you get to go :)
