Treasure ice

The weather is really hot here in fact its unbearably hot and Sophie and i are looking for ways to cool down so we raided the cupboards and dug out all the fun shaped silicon moulds

We searched around in Sophie treasure box for shells and the craft cupboard for gems and pom poms and the jewellry box for beads.

Next we mixed up diffreent colours of water and then placed different treasures into the moulds and added the different coloured water.  We had a great time talking about colours and big and small and working out how to fit treasure into shapes.

We also got some olive oil and added glitter and froze this too and after waiting for them all to freeze they were popped out onto a plater for Sophie to pick up and explore.

As it was hot they melted nicely for a two year old's attention span to get at the treasure inside.  As the ice melted a big cold puddle of water hide some of the other ice treasures making it so Sophie had to search harder.

The oil sticks also started melting and as the water was cold kept the oil firm and gloopy which was great for squishing with fingers and as it melted further floated on top of the water which amused Sophie as she tried to mix it into the water.
