Roald Dahl Festival 10th anniversary

The big friendly giant is so big you can his head and shoulders above the rooftops. BFG carries Sophie away into his world of dreams, frobscottle and snozzcumbers. This amazing character was made by school children of Manderville school

The roly poly bird is a friend to all. he is a multi lingual exotic traveller and will help you out of dangerous scrapes if you need him.  he is not afraid to stand up to baddies and has a multi coloured tail feathers of which he is so proud.

Have you ever seen anyone as ugly as Mrs Twit?  She is a mean and horrible lady who likes hitting dogs and cats and small children with her walking stick. Made by the pupils of The Grange school.

Lots of children from many of the schools were included and help make up the parade, by building puppets and making characters from all the famous books by Roald Dahl
The was lots of different bands from samba to brass all getting the crowd moving with good dance music, which helped every one get rid of the rainy blues as the heavens opened up on the parade as it started.

Watch out children for here comes The Enormous crocodile with huge jaws ready to snap up some juicy children.

This nasty vilain is looking for children. She wants to turn them all into mice!but be careful  for she carries her mask in her hand to disguise her terrifying face.

The event didnt stop at the parade, there were craft workshops, face painting  doorway theatre performances and the traditional Roald Dahl Games such as tossing the Snozzcumber and throwing the pigtail hammer and lots more music being played around the town.

Aunt Sponge is enormously fat has small piggy eyes a sunken mouth and looked like a great big white soggy over boiled cabbage.

We are so lucky to have a fun event like this happen every year and its even better seeing all the school having input and showing how creative they are.
