Flying Kites

Today Sophie's friend Freya came to visit for the weekend. Sophie had been looking forward to Freya's visit.

After a long drive in the car what better way to to cool off than a dip in the paddling pool to wash away the hot and stuffyness of the car journey. After many of Sophie's toys had been explored we all relaxed and had lunch.  It was a bright blue sky day with breezy white clouds blustering across the heavens, what a perfect day to go and fly a kite.  So off we headed Sophie and Freya both with their mummies and daddies in tow went into the countryside and took a climb up a hill where the wind was gusting and we had a perfect view of the countryside unrolling before us.
This has to be one of my favourite places, i love the views that are rolled out beneath us with the hedges sectioning up the country side like a giant green duvet. The fact that it is always breezy even when the wind is perfectly still at the base of the hill.  It is peaceful apart from the many beautiful calls of the many birds and especially one bird that nests in the grass here and we see taking advantage of the up rushing air to balance on and hover in the air.

Daddy set the kite up and and lift off was easy and he proceeded to show off his loop de loops, buzzing and swooping.  he looks like a conductor of air when he flies the kite, and Sophie loves to watch.

Freya's Mummy was banned from flying the kite as she made an almighty thud that rocked around the hill on a bad landing, what mean boys those daddies are But Freya's mummy got another go and was defiantly much better.  Can you guess where the kite is heading?

Freya's daddy fancied himself a bit of a dare devil stunt flyer and decide to see how close to the ground he could fly the kite with out crashing, however he nicked the tops of peoples heads with the string as he swooshed on by with the nifty kite, so everyone decide to get as low as they could to the ground when it was his turn to fly.
Here is Freya what a pretty little girly she is with her ice cream blond hair and big blue eyes.
Here is a picture of the girls, Freya is sporting a fashionable bag which Sophie checked out, typical girls Sophie has a shoe fetish and Freya a handbag fetish, i hope their daddies have deep pockets for later on.

Sophie decided that a walk down the hill would be an adventure so took mummies hand and took the long walk down and went round half the hill to start the ascend up, we saw butterflies, birds and rabbit mounds but no bunny' were home.  After much walking and exploring Sophie decided half way she was tired and could not be bothered to walk up the rest of the steep hill and demanded mummy carry her up the rest.

Mummy was insistent that she rested and try again and that she could make it, so a little lay down to look at the buttercups and off she tried again to climb the hill.  It must be like climbing Everest for a toddler, and when she got to the top she was certain very pooped.
But the young recover fast and soon she was getting daddy into a walk around the top of the hill and then decided to tickle Freya for good measure.

After kite flying we all packed up and headed off home feeling the wind had brightened us all up.  A bit of finger painting was in order and the girls got creative making their marks on the UK art scene.

Freya decided that painting paper was good fun but it was more fun to paint her face and tongue, exploring is great fun. At the end of the day the a  nice bath was in order before putting weary heads to sleep to dream of flying kites.
