How does your garden grow week 4

After seeing so many snow and frost shot while we have been living in cold blue sky i was glad that we got a little light frost so i could also go out and try some frosty pictures,  however it was a light frost and it melted fast so i was up against it.

I hope your not feeling cold but if you are here are some happy warm flowers that have decided to pop open at home.

Teacher treks in the arctic circle to fund raise for Breast cancer care

Mrs Smith

Map of Sweden Ice hotelIt seems that Sophie's School teacher is a lady with a mission, prepared to go above and beyond and push herself all in the aid of the Breast cancer charity, and why wouldn't you be touched emotionally especially after loosing three colleagues to breast cancer. She was spurred on 6 years ago to start fund raising by walking four 20 mile Ribbon Walks from Blenheim Palace. Last September she decided to ‘up her game’ to try the 100km Thames Path Challenge from Putney Bridge to Henley. She finished in 25½ hours.

aurora borealisIn October She decided to search for her next challenge, it needed to be a bigger gesture to get the message out there and raise more valuable funding for the charity. Being a teacher with lots of eager and willing children to teach this venture also had to be during school holidays. So in the half term Mrs Smith will put on her thermals and very thick socks and fly off to the arctic circle to Swedish Lapland waving goodbye to her 4 and 5 year olds and meet her bedfellows for the next 5 days a whole team of huskie dogs i wonder which would be more easier to control ?  So the teacher of children will then be the pupil and be taught to drive a sledge of huskies across the thick cold crunchy snow, through forests and over frozen lakes with temperatures  going down as low as -40˚C she will need to keep warm so how about a couple of nights where she will sleep in a teepee, i hope she has some really good pajamas!!   Five days and 200km Mrs Smith will not be alone, apart from the huskies she will be in a group of 10 people all guided by the Sami, people of the region, i would imagine Mrs Smith will will not be a stranger to some reindeer wandering around, and we really hope she gets to witness the elusive aurora borealis she will have so much to tell the children when she gets back.

Although this will be an adventure of a lifetime this challenge is not for the faint-hearted! With a super teacher such as Mrs Smith we know she has it in her to complete this challenging feat with success and determination and she has already undertaken months and walking training to get ready for the many miles ahead of her and years of experience of controlling a rabble noisy bunch into a slick team.

Can you help????

Mrs Smith would love to raise £5000 but as much as possible for Breast Cancer Care.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. About 48,000 women get breast cancer in Britain each year. Most (eight out of 10) are over 50, but younger women, and in rare cases, men, can also get breast cancer.(Link NHS)

Breast Cancer Care relies on the generosity of people like you
