I have been wanted to try this product for a long time and so i am very thrilled to be given the opportunity to test it out.
The Steam mop retailing at £59.99 and available Exclusively from Lakeland is now revolutionsing cleaning the floors in my house. Most of our house has tiles (kitchen and bathroom) hardwood floors downstairs and laminate flooring upstairs in Sophie's room making reviewing this fab steam mop a good test as we have all floor types this mop can deal with.
The steam mops turns up in three parts which click together very easily and there is a 250ml reservoir that has a handy funnel and jug to fill it up. The steam mop is really light and can be easily moved around the floors and has a swivel head plus a nice long lead so you don't have to keep unplugging the appliance to get around. As you can see its so easy and light to use my 3 year old can push it around. After Sophie filled the reservoir the steam mop only took mere 30 seconds to start steaming.
With my little helpful assistant we got down to business and started our test. Before any mopping could be done it is important to make sure that you hoover your floors to get all those bits and pieces off the floor.
To be fair to old methods we really wanted to know how good the steam mop was so we mopped half the floor with the old fashioned bucket and mop method and the other half with the steam mop. We then went over the two halves of the floor on hands and knees with a antibacterial wet wipe to see what dirt we could get off the floor after cleaning them.
As you can see from our test the top cloth is from the traditional mop and bucket method and the bottom is from the steam mop. I felt after the mopping and bucket method i was not really cleaning but just moving dirty water around the floors. The steam mop came with a pack of 3 microfiber cloths that gathered and caught the dirt, after looking at the base of the cloth from cleaning HALF of a kitchen floor it was black YUK!!
After the tiled floors we tried out the hard wood floors all of ours are sealed and they came up just a good as the tiled floors clean and shiny then the laminate floor which i was a little worried about as laminate is compressed cardboard and i worried that the steam would blister up the laminate, but i didn't have to worry as the steam mop sailed across the floors making them spic and span. After all that mopping i was left with as you can see 3 very dirty micro cloths but a quick spin in the washing machine at 40 cleaned them up nicely ready for next time i needed them.
If you live in a hard water area Lakeland recommend another exclusive of this Quickshine Water softener to help reduce the build up of limescale it only retails at £3.99 and can treat up to 12 liters of water for steam appliances.
There were many things i was impressed about the mop but having dry floors after mopping was brilliant, with the traditional mop and bucket method your left with wet floors for 15 mins and i either have to tip toe about or barricade the room off to stop people walking over it leaving foot prints.
The Cost of the mop was another great point where many other steam mops retail at £99 - £139 and may not be as good in fact this Lakeland exclusive mop came 3rd out of a review of 10 steam mops in the Independent review.
I have to say my floors have never looked so clean i was genuinely amazed and feel happy that when our new arrival joins us that my floors will be sparkling clean and safe for little adventures and exploration.
Great review! I want one!! :D
