Centre parcs woodlands

The last week of March for us mean a trip to Centre parcs, since Sophie came along we have made it a family tradition and this is our second year.

Centre parcs is just brilliant for kids and families and taking Sophie from the age of 6 months means we have something to look forward to doing every year, as she gets older more and more activities open up to her from messy play for toddlers to pony rides for young kids to high wire walking for teens ( dad is not looking forward to this activity), of course there is the many pools with their lazy rivers wave machines and selection of scary slides and rapids. However I really adore the woodlands I love the calm and could just sit snuggled in the chair by the two large windows staring out over the trees listening to the wind breathing through the branches as the trunks sway in time to as if to wave hello to us. I love watching as day by day more and more green shoots and leaves wake up, unfold and greet the sun it really is just so peaceful.

When ever we go we always book the same villa its so nice going somewhere and knowing exactly what to expect knowing the layout, which important with a small infant in toe, knowing what you need and how to get to and plan journeys around the park, the familiarity and expectations fulfilled from knowing your home for the week is reassuring and takes some small worry away from a week of fun. We also deliberately choose to book the one furthest away from the centre, on the edge of the woodland. It seems odd to us that people pay more to be nearer the centre, with all the noise and all those people and the further away is cheaper and has all the piece, beauty and more wildlife than you can shake a stick at. One breakfast we enjoyed watching rutting deer what a treat. As soon as we turned up and released Sophie from her car seat to the woodlands she was off chasing a rabbit and she completely missed her first muntjac you might see it to the right in the picture.

One thing about Centre parcs is the wildlife is so tame which makes it ideal for children to get close to and experience, here we are out feeding the ducks some bread when the ever greedy squirrels drop down from the trees, then a few blue tits dive in, next thing we see is a muntjac coming out of the bushes shortly after followed by a pheasant, all on our patio having a good old munch Sophie looked like she was in a scene from snow white and my photo really doesn't do it any justice.
