Lakeland Fairy tale Cottage mould

Well i have to say i think we have got something we will cherish for a very long time and is a lot a fun to do, it is the Fairy tale Cottage mould  available from Lakeland.
This is so enchanting and so easy to do and you can just go creative mad with little ones and have a great afternoon of one on one Christmas fun.

So what is it ? its a stress free 2 part silicon mould of a well thought out and design fairy tale cottage that any character from a story book could set up a cozy home in.  First things first we made a big batch of spicy Christmas ginger cookie mix and madam had a lot of fun squishing this into the mould all i have to do was level it off at the end while she had all the fun of filling the moulds.  You just cant beat the smell of warm spiced ginger cookies wafting from the oven and filling the house it really puts you in the Christmas spirit.

The great thing about this mould is that you can also use it to do melted chocolate version and the mould works the same way once your chocolate is chilled and set or the cookie mix cooked and cooled the parts just POP out easily from the mould i really love the simplicity.

Once cooled get ready for the fun part after mixing up some royal icing we started to assemble the house using a glass to hold the first part up and the icing as glue to keep the house firmly fixed together.

Next Sophie got really creative decorating the house in gems, jazzies, silver and gold balls, more cookies and more icing and of course iced snowflakes.

The mould comes with extra mould pieces of a door which we ate as we wanted to have an open door and we put lights inside our house and a little boy and girl (could this be Hansel and Gretel) and a Christmas tree which we decorated.  We see that the obvious thing to use as an outside is desiccated coconut but we opted for light fluffy candy floss as we thought this gave a better snow feel to the little cottage.

We really love this product and give it 5 out of 5 stars and it will make a showing every Christmas I'm sure. We really appreciated  that you don't have to sit forming house shapes over cardboard to get the right sizes to make a house and all the detail of the windows and tiles on the roof get in printed into the cookie dough.  The moulds are so easy to use and even better to wash in the dishwasher.  We love the price as it is only £11.99 and it provided a whole afternoon creative play together and is another step to getting that Christmas feeling well and truly on the way.  We are now thinking of other ways we can use the cottage maybe a spooky Halloween house.
