William Harding combined school fete

Today i was at the William Harding Combined school for their first ever summer fete.  I have to say i was really impressed by the organisation and thought that had gone into planning the days activities, stalls  and overall feeling of the fete very well.

You could see they had really done their homework as from all the school fairs i have done this was definitely the best i have ever been to and that was down to the thought and little extra details they had put into the day
Not only had they manage to get lots of really interesting people down to the fete such as the NHS and Police with their flashing cars and sirens blowing which proved popular with the children as they got to sit inside the vehicles and test them out
The scout leaders where also there which i was glad to see as i wanted to get Sophie signed up.  The pony ride people i saw at Aston Clinton fair was also there giving rides to all the little ones too. But to top it all, in swooped the Air ambulance in all its glory giving the crowd and amazing show of its skill as it circled the playground and landed and then let people explore the helicopter.  They even had a famous footballer open the fete talk about WOW!  if ever there was inspiration as to what career you wanted to follow when you grew up it was all here.  There were bouncy castles and the school choir sang and the dance group did an amazing show for everyone, the enthusiasm of the children of the school was infectious it was so nice to see happy pupils.

The day wasn't as cheery as it was windy and grey and a few spots of rain but this really didn't dampen the spirit of the school and the parents that turned out to support their school.

I have been to many school fairs where as a stall holder you end up walking away at the end of the day making a loss and deciding not to go back and support the school for future fairs just because the parents don't support the stall holders at the event, this wasn't the case for the parents at William Harding who really got behind the spirit of the event and seems to enjoy the many stalls that the PTA had thoughtfully put together.

Today i had forgotten half my stock as i was so excited about a few new launches on my stall, I had some sweetheart gifting boxes for individual soaps.

I also had decided to create gift boxes one in little card boxes and others in pretty glass bowls, both had lots of interest in them.

I also had some scrummy new Mega Floral bath fizzes and these were also very popular with visits to the stall.
I was also very lucky to be sited next to two lovely women  who were sending prays to the grey clouds to go away as they had no shelter from our typical English summer.  Emma Mccourt from Carrington jewellery sold exquisite beaded jewellery and had a lovely table spread.  Then next to her was Nikki Beale from Nikkis hearts and crafts who make vintage style gifts and the clever lady makes her own creates.  Check out both their pages.
The day was only 3 hours long and in that weather that was enough, i hope the school think that it was a success as i really think it was although my husband Ali did make a point of mentioning that he found it a real struggle getting to the tombola and food as the queues we a bit to long and he ended up giving up.  Beside this we think that the organisers did a great job and hope they do one next year.

  3. Thank you so much for your lovely comments about the William Harding Combined School Summer Fete.

We have a fantastic team of parents and teachers who all helped to put on a wonderful fete this year. The fete takes many months of planning and hardwork but it was certainly worth it this year. It was wonderful to see so many people turn out and support the school. We had many new attractions this year including Matt Phillips of Blackpool FC kindly agreeing to open the fete, the Air Ambulance landing on the school field the pony rides and carousel.

Thank you again for coming along and supporting us and for your wonderful comments. We hope you will come to our Christmas Fayre later in the year and also come back to our Summer Fete next year.
