Sunflowers, hedghogs and carrots

We grow sunflowers ever year, i do love them they are big and happy flowers and the bumble bees love them too.  This year we did a sunflower race with Sophie's friend William and they both grew 5 each here is Sophie's winning Sunflower which grew to 71inches.

well as you know from this link spiny-norman-strikes-again. we had a hedgehog living with us for most of the year and last night i spotted him again helping himself to the cat food. There he is running off before i got to take a proper picture of him.  He hide behind the cat biscuits so he was easy to catch and wondered if this time he was ready to be set free into the garden, as last time he decided he rather liked it in our garage with all that free food and came back after i released him.  This time he was ready and i put him down and he scampered off happily into the garden hopefully to do some damage to the never ending supply of slugs and snails we have in our garden that are munching their way through our veg plot.  I wonder if he will be back.

Our veggies are growing well in the garden and we have as always made an abundance of salad which has been great to eat but we are nearly out of it.  Sophie and I popped out after the rain to rescue the water from the waterbutt into the green house for all the cucumbers, and saw that maybe there were some rainbow carrots ready and pulled a few up we have yellow, purple and orange ones and they tasted so sweet Sophie loves to munch them with the green tops on.
