National Trust A Waddesdon walk

In the brief interluded of rain and wind we have had the sun has come out just enough for us to pull on our walking boots and go for a walk.  With Sunshine came the first signs of Spring and at our Waddeston walk with lots of lovely snowdrops Sophie could believe her eyes as there were masses of them making it quite magical.

I have a confession to make, Sophie has quiet a serious stick fetish and Waddesdon is a most interest place with all sorts of huge and strange shaped trees some of the grounds are littered in twigs and sticks making it paradise for any small person with a stick fetish to want to pick up a stick and fall in love and imagine all sorts of things from horses and witches brooms.  Im sorry Waddesdon staff this stick was stick napped and has come home with us.   On the walk we stopped by the beautiful Avery and the even more beautiful birds that live inside sorry no pictures of the birds as the bars made it almost impossible to get a good shot.

Inside the avery is this really lovely grotto like water feature where you can donate some money to help feed the birds.  There are a few statues and cherubs reclining and blowing horns but our favourite was this rather handsome chap.

We do like wandering around the grounds are vast and sometimes you can just walk and walk and not see anyone.  The planting is lovely and its good going up to see the different seasons unfold.  Last month we got a brief chance between the rain to see these lovely blooms poke there heads out to let us know it was long until spring would come and the weather would warm up.

There is also a park because just in case all that walking doesn't tire out your little one there is lot of things to climb and slide on.  There were many exhausted parents hoping to burn off more of their kids energy.

Ella got her very first ride on a swing and mini mummy was very insistent that she should be the one to push her.  Ella really loved the swing and spent the whole time laughing.  Sophie is such a brilliant big sister and i can see these two getting on well as Ella really looks up to her already and has eyes of wonder at what her big sister can do.

  1. Such lovely photos from your visit to Waddesdon, Ella looks so happy on the swing. I think most children have a stick fettish from the age of 2½! It's so nice to see the lovely signs of Spring and have some sunshine at last. Thanks for linking up and sharing your fun with Country Kids.
