Due to Sophie's dog attack at Wychwood we did not get to see much of the festival as we were in hospital or Sophie wasn't feeling up to afterwards. Sophie's routine was out of sync from being up till midnight in A&E and not feeling so great due to surgery, as you can imagine we had a very unhappy toddler. However when we were let out of the hospital we had the choice of either going home with a sad panda mopping and picking stitches or try and salvage some of the weekend and cheer Sophie, got a short window of an hour where she was awake but unhappy, it was late but Sophie routine was out the window. We could have take her to see the headlining band but we choose to take her to see Kissmet who were playing in the big top and which we thought was loads more fun as they are a rock, Punjabi, Bhangra fusion band and we were not disappointed.
We took Sophie into the tent and watched the guys warm up and Sophie sat in her pushchair and listened still a bit sad and down in the dumps. The band then left to dress and came back onto the stage and kicked off with the crowd pleasing Jaan, Buzz was drumming and Sophie just couldn't get out of her chair fast enough to jump on the floor to start dancing, and a big smile broke out across her face, but she was so small we had to lift her up onto our shoulders so she could see the band and all of the blazing stage lights. We were at the back so Sophie could see the crowd pushing forward excited and dancing in time to the bands amazing songs, but she just couldn't keep still the music was infectious and all three of us danced the night away. Then Ron blasted out beautiful Indian singing with Why Oi and Sophie was in awe and tried to copy him, Ron Sang again rousing the crowd to sing with him and the whole tent let rip and sang back at the band. The crowd waved their hands in the air in time with the music and the little lady on daddies shoulders joined in waving too she was so happy it was as if what had happened to her had not and she was able to get a bit of the festival experience. Kissmet are defiantly a cure that bring cheer and should be bottled and sold.
The band rocked on with their brilliant inspired fusion music, there were songs we recognised such as a whole lot of love all mashed up crazy style with Indian fusion.
The band then let the crowd get some breath after 20 minuets of frenzied dancing and singing and chill out to some really cool songs like Angel and other soothing tunes at which point after a such a rocking session for Sophie and seeing her first ever band she drifted off to sleep and was put in her pushchair, where she continued to sleep through the rest of the set even thought the band got crazy again with more drumming and kick ass music.
We pushed the sleeping rock chick back to the tent to sleep and the next morning we were out and backstage to meet Justin Fletcher and who was there casually eating breakfast but Kissmet we couldn't believe our eyes and tried not to stare. Then Sophie ran about hiding in dressing rooms and then went and said Hi to Buzz, and Buzz was such a cool rock dude he came over and chilled out and spent loads of time speaking to us and Sophie, what a true star and a really nice guy. Later in the week Ron kindly sent Sophie a signed copy of their CD Trippin the life fantastic and she has not stopped dancing to it and we listened to it back to back while she dances, cheers and does some funky fusion moves of her own.
We were all really glad we got to see at least one band and in our opinion and defiantly Sophie's Kissmet were the best band if we only got the choice to see one band while we were at Wychwood, Kissmet would be the one to see again.
Sophie looks great, and she can dance so much better than I can.
