Settling Sophie into bed and fretting with Katie the babysitter as to whether there was anything else i should have done before going as this was the first time leaving her at night. Feeling a little guilty leaving Sophie and also a little relieved and looking forward that we were going out as a couple for the first time in a long time. We speed off straight into a 40 min tail back of traffic all heading to Waddesdon thank goodness we left a little earlier, a Sophie trained quality in us, as any parent knows you have to think about getting ready an few hours before you actually leave.
So after almost 2 years i finally got to take Ali out on a Hot date, well i say hot it was more wet and soggy. Waddesdon is a lovely Chateau style manor built and belonging to the Rothschild family. They are doing many event this year but one of the big names visiting was Jools Holland and his band, set in the gardens of Waddesdon. There was about 4000 people attending the event and we ended up walking right to the back of the event to get a clear spot to get our camping chairs and umbrella out, from our spot we could see the stage but none of the people on it. We also realised our umbrella had a few holes in it, as it was so old and worn and it was raining the entire event. i had also made a mass fopa buying a really crappy bottle fizz that was sugar in a bottle and only fit for pouring on the grass i blame Sainsburys for hiding the good stuff next to their cigarettes and not putting it next to the wine section. But we didn't mind, and i have the for thought of bringing bin bags and rugs to put over our legs to keep us dry and warm. Most people brought a picnic for the event but they also did food there as the lady at the ticket office explained they had a posh BBQ burger catering company, we have to disagree with two words in that claim, Posh and BBQ it was more like a boiled cheap brown thing in a bun, however the price was posh at £4.50 per burger.
Mr Jools Holland came on and the crowd were elated and he soon got his boogy woogy band working overtime to please the crowd. The tickets said no filming at all so we didn't bring our camcorder but everyone was filming so we did a little on our phone and its poor quality filming so be warned. This next video make me laugh half way through there is a pregnant lady in yellow that is suddenly touched by the boogy woogy beats and breaks out dancing, bet her baby is loving the sounds inside her tummy.
The set was brilliant and Jools had loads of loads of special guests that came on and sang with his band. With the rain constantly falling down there was a sea of brollys doing the boogy bop in time to the music and we enjoyed armchair dancing under our holey umbrella and bin bags swigging cheap plonk looking like a couple of hobos and we were having a great time. Remembering the length of time it took to get in we ended up leaving 20 mins early to beat the rush getting out and got home to a still sleeping baby, Oh the relief, we had a great time and felt we turned a corner with Sophie and maybe we can go on another date soon.
