Croods the Movie

Easter Holidays and here and we have a few treats set up for Sophie one was a trip to the cinema to see the new release of The Croods,

The movie
A prehistoric adventure following a family of cavemen. The Croods have managed to be the only surviving cavemen so far as the father Grug has protected and set rules through family stories to the family to be afraid of everything and they have spent most of their time shut away in a dark cave much to the annoyance of Eep the head strong female teenager of the group who is looking for more from life. While Grug has protected his family who include his wife Ugga and her elderly mother their son Thunk and daughter Sandy a very scary baby the other cavemen families have died out around them to disease, stupidity being eaten etc.  Not gripped you so far??

Don't worry all of this is about to change as the end of their world is about to happen and the introduction of Guy a new male teenager who has lost his family to tar comes with big ideas and bumps into and develops a love interest for Eep.  Guy not only comes with big idea but the worlds first pet who also has the multi function of being his companion as well as his belt to hold his pants up.

As the divide of the landscape crumbles and destroys the Croods home and world around them Guy is throw into the family as he leads them to a promised world which he calls tomorrow and chases this by following the light of the sun. Grugs family accept Guy and his clever ideas whole heartedly and follow him willingly much to the annoyance of Grug who becomes jealous and who sees his fatherly and manly role undermined and denting his ego, by the new thinking, ideas, inventions and the developing relationship of Guy and Eep.

On their journey there are some big and small scary creatures ready to pounce and eat them at any chance and the skinny weak Guy come to the rescue again and again while the big strong Grug fails to protect his family.  As their dangerous journey continues Grug and Guy begin to bond as they fight and become stuck in tar and have to work together to get out and Grug learns more about Guy and the whole family come together.  As they almost reach the promise land of tomorrow, Grug gets his chance to prove himself to his family where his brute strength rescue all his family apart from himself and he is left behind wondering how to make it to his family.

What we thought
We loved this movie not only was it comical, with lots funny scenes, gags and situations. There was great family conflict not only between Grug and Guy but between Grug and the mother in law as well as Eep that un roled and the conflicts that happened in this first ever family also happens just as today that anyone could relate to.  Cute pets gave the arr factor for Sophie who now wants her own saber tooth green tiger.  Dangerous situations kept us on the edge of our seats of will they wont they get through this new problem and we marveled to the solutions that they came up with. The thrilling adventure and journey of their mammoth (no pun intended) destination to get safe as well as their journey of becoming a family team is very endearing.  We give this movie a thumbs up and is very watchable.

*Please note that we have reviewed this film just because we love it and we have received no paymen
