We were munching our way through some pots of Activia yogurt and i noticed what a great shape pot it was just perfect for making pumpkins, so the craft cupboard doors were opened and Sophie and i got to work.
We mixed our own red and yellow paint and Sophie thought it was magic that it changed into orange when she stirred it up and we even put plenty of gold sparkle paint in to as well as a splodge of PVA glue. Sophie got delightfully messy as she painted the pots with paint all up her arms and oh yes i forgot to take off her school uniform DOH!!
When the pots dried out we stuck green pipe cleaners on the backs of the pots and curled and added leaves to the now green plant tendril arms.
Sophie glued on googly eyes and put smiley faces on the pumpkins, and we used some tissue paper and leaves we cut to create little hats for each, to make them glow we took so battery operated tea lights and popped one under each of them and they flicked a spooky glow.
They are fantastic! You are very resourceful! I had the most brilliant idea to make paper mache pumpkins and bats with my son's class. They turned out well, but dear lord the mess! :D
ReplyDeleteJust love to recycle costs less on the pocket, paper mache is very messy when sophie and i did the fish it was a sticky affair, would love to see your creations ;)
