Fourth Clandestine cake club

Today saw the Fourth gathering of the Clandestine cake club with a theme around bountiful harvest and we had 8 wonderful cakes to taste.

Margaret made a apple and almond cake which she got from her A level home economics classes when she was a girl, and just to prove it she brought her rather well organised star rated recipes along in a pretty note book which had that she loved Duran Duran on the back.  I loved her cake as it had a great chewy texture to it and Margaret put this down to her use of golden sugars

Jill had a savoury treat at the table with a bacon, cheese, mustard and sun-dried tomato bread cake which is an old family favourite
Jo who is new to baking gave us a banana carrot and walnut cake which was scrumptious and made extra special from the home grown carrots.
Ann made a very tasty pumpkin cake which had sultanas sprinkled in it as well as orange zest all topped with a cream cheese frosting, this recipe Came from Rachelle Allen recipe.  I really enjoyed this cake as it had a nice spiced cake flavour
Jenny which we were all so happy to see back in the club as we all missed her also made a parsnip, maple syrup, apple and pecan cake topped with mascarpone , the recipe was from the BBC good food website.
Pat improved on a John Torrode (from Master Chef) recipe of this amazingly presented Blackberry upside down cake, doesn't this look to good to eat!!
Arden made a savoury offering which the clever thing concocted from lovely morstels from her fridge it had goats cheese, feta, edam, pancetta, olives all topped with cream cheese and sour cream and tomatoes marinated in balsamic vinegar
Ginny as always in my opinion bakes the crowd pleaser as she never disappoints and i love tucking into her cakes.  Today she made a parsnip, almond and orange blossom water cake that had orange blossom water syrup and orange blossom water mascarpone frosting, it was so light and moorish i could have face planted the whole cake.  Her recipe was from Fiona Cairns book called bake as you cake enthusiast will know Fiona baked the wedding cake to Kate and Wills
This is my cake which looks a mess against the wonderful creations above but im blaming that on the rhubarb  as i made a rhubarb upside down cake which i got from a digging for victory site, however it did taste ok and Arden ran off with a quarter of my cake to feed her freezer ... lucky freezer!!
The afternoon was wonderful and the venue was great to and it was so nice to talk and share ideas with such a collection of wise and wonderfully experienced women, i really cant wait to see them all again very soon.
