Cooking with my best friend

I had my friend over recently and we spent a really lovely girly day cooking in the kitchen no kids running around us shouting mummy can i have this, mummy i want that, except for little Ella who was no bother and was snoozing in her cot.  So we got to be two women, just two individuals enjoying each other's company swapping the weeks stories of what was happening at home while cooking up a storm in the kitchen, and sipping down cups of tea.

My friend had only baked from the add an egg and some milk boxed cupcake mix before and she had seen and eaten a few of my cakes and asked to make a cake with me, of course i said yes and i measured out all the sugar and flour for her before she arrived to save time and make her experience nicer,  i used my food processor to blitz up carrots and left all the ingredients in pre measured bowls so all she had to do was place it all in my food mixer and create a great homemade cake and watch how easy it was to come together.   I hope that she won't use those pre-made cake box mixes again now she sees how fabulous and easy real cakes are to make.

My friend asked why i had all the gadgets like food mixers, and food blenders.  i said that as i loved to cook and bake that these lovely treasures were just brilliant at saving me time with chopping and blending when cooking and my food mixer helped to get maximum air into my cake mixes .

The house smelt amazing with wafts of Spiced cake and fresh bread.  Sadly the time had wizzed by as it does when you are having fun and it was time to get the kids from camp.  Least there will be some good home baking for tea.
