Independence of the Seas part 3

Now to our room and we were very lucky to have a suite with the most enormous bed in it and it was so comfy that you would be asleep within a few mins of getting into it.

Not only was the bed enormous our room was a lovely big size too just perfect for a two year old to spread out and play with toys in.  We even had a walk in wardrobe that could fit several Narnia's inside the picture below only shows one small part of our wardrobe can you see Sophie hiding? Our bathroom was nice too and we had a bath something which is considered a luxury for a ship the above is what you get when you have a suit and not a normal cabin, although we peeked inside the cabins and they were very nice.

Our most favourite place was our extra large balcony and we spent loads of time here and in the firt three days looking out to sea we saw scores of Dolphins dancing in and out of the waves around the ship and 2-3 pods of whales every day.  this was Sophie first encounter with dolphins and she was over the moon to find one on the ship to give a cuddle to.
Being on a cruise ship is a very indulgent affair and one of the most indulgent things you can do is eat! there is a lot of eating A LOT!

The choice of food is huge and the number of restaurants makes you feel spoilt rotten.  There is the main dinning room which as you can see is very opulent with chandeliers and full on table service, there are smart casual nights and formal nights where men are in tuxedo's and ladies in cocktail dresses, this is where if your lucky you can sit at the captains table.

There is also Windjammers where you can go to most of the day and be overwhelmed by choice and variety of some great food in a more casual setting.  There is even a theatre eating experience called Portifinos where they act out a who done it over dinner which looked like great fun.

Another of our favourite restaurants was Johnny Rockets which is based on an American diner and make the most tasty burgers we have ever had these were not 1/4 pounders these were 1/3 pounders and they were juicy and made of really lovely meat, my favorite was the smoke house with BBQ sauce.
Not only was the starters and mains great but they did a Naughty but oh so nice Oreo cookie sundea which by the time Sophie ate she was well and truly beaten by the food.
Ali and I managed to escape one night leaving Sophie with a babysitter and we went Chops Grill and this was Fine dinning with the best Steaks you could ever eat they were so tender you could eat them with a spoon and they were cooked to just how you like it too.  We enjoyed it so much we ended up having the dinner again with Sophie in our room.
I think the house keeping thought we were a little bonkers as we took advantage of our balcony and laid out our picnic blankets we had brought and laid out the food to have a decant picnic so we could eat as the sun set.
The Prawns we had with the starter were more like baby lobsters they were so big and they were divine.
Above is the choice only some of the side dishes they give you to go with your main and below the steak is a very tender filet mignon
To finish a massive slice of Mississippi mud pie.  Eating on our balcony was the most special moment with the wave splashing and the sun setting and fabulous food we all went to bed very happy and contented.
