The weather is so mild this Christmas that a spot of seal watching on our coast line at Horsey was a real pleasure with winter sun basking on all the new born seal pups, over a quarter of the grey seal population visits this time of year to give birth to their pups before returning to the sea. On that weekend there were 606 new pups born and the beach line was littered in snoozing bodies, fat and furry looking like big sausages laying in the sand. We were not allowed on the beach as there were bulls about and it would be dangerous and not wanting to disturb the pups and mothers, but from our position there was plenty to see and the girls were in awe of such a special sight.
Make over for Christmas
Its Christmas and as is tradition with long holidays from school the girls get a make over and some colour in their hair, Sophie got purple but I think it looks very much like the pink we did in Summer. Although Ella has little hair she didn't want to be left out so got a little red mohico and some gold glittery eyes.
Heather on the heath
September is almost here and the whispers of autumn are starting to appear with wonderful colour that could compete with spring. This time of year the heath is bursting with purples and pinks from the heather and against the golds of the gorse are a sight not to be missed.
On a one of our nature walks the the girls had fun rambling through shrub land and up trees
our trail took us along marshland and we enjoyed watching the dragonflies dancing and mating in the air
I just love the clash of colours and as we walked I was glad we didn't have the pushchair anymore, although Ella spent a lot of time on our shoulders and in our arms.
We noticed a lot of webs across heather and soon found one occupant and it reminded me that September is coming and soon we will be more aware of a lot of spiders around.

Close encounter of the feather kind
Sophie has always been really into nature, if there is a frog or toad it will be in her hand, she is often found running around the garden catching butterflies and picking up bugs.
being summer holidays what better way for nature girl to get up close to some wildlife than a bird encounter, and as you can see she lapped up getting the chance to hold some more exotic birds, parrots to a Kookaburra and even got close up to a large owl.

Sophie's high tree adventures
Sophie turned 6 recently, and has been growing like a weed, she is now finally tall enough to have some fun doing high wire adventures in the trees. So as part of her Birthday treat she got to go for a climb, and we thought she might be afraid, but it turned out she had to give daddy the pet talk and she ended up going first to show him the way.
She was so excited to do this experience and was totally trilled the entire way round and enjoyed climbing the wall and zipping the wires.
She had such a great time she ended up going round 3 times and ditched daddy as he was cramping her new adventure style.
