Weybourne beach

Another day another beach, we are so lucky to be surrounded by so many and so varied beaches. from Overstrand we skip passed Cromer and found this gem Weybourne beach wonderful coloured pebbles and lots of interesting things to see, big machines, fishermen beach fishing with really long lines, big vehicles for towing boats and massive chalky cliffs with lines of sedimentary in it with loads of fabulous colours and fun to scrabble over.

Sophie had a ball climbing and sliding on her butt down the other side,

One of the best things about this beach is the beach combing, with loads of different things to collect we went home with buckets loads of treasure.

Overstrand Beach

 Norfolk coastline is varied and interesting, instead of seeking out the pleasure beaches and spots that are a bit more overcrowded we tend to seek the more secluded spots.  We stumbled upon Overstand with only a cafe and a crab hut selling freshly prepared crabs and lobsters and that was it!  bliss.

 The beach was a mix of sand and stone, the kids were able to enjoy making castles and hunting for pretty stones, this beach had the added bonus of fossil hunting to and yes we found some fossils all inside large lumps of chalky stone that were being washed up on the beach as the tide slowly slipped away, down the long shallow beach.

 We were here for a few hours and saw very few people as you can see from the pictures and the atmosphere was wonderful before lunch time as the sea mists rolled around the cliff edges making the temperature fluctuate as the sun battled to break through the swirls of mist and fog.

Finally we could not leave with out trying out some of that fresh crab caught that morning and freshly prepared just for us

Gone Crabbing

Its been a month since i have written anything and it feels like 6, life has been really hectic with our big relocate.  We have been out exploring our new surroundings and have had a lot of fun exploring a new beach every single weekend and each one very different, i really love the countryside beautiful landscapes and the light seems different here more crystal clear, everything is more relaxed, calm and the aspirational life we were looking for.

One of our jaunts was out to Walberswick a quaint and beautiful little village next to the sea with a large river that runs down to the coast, of course the perfect place for a harbor with lots of little fishing boats that you can buy fresh fish from.

What i love about the culture round here is everyone seems to have there own little shops outside their houses and boats selling anything from flowers and veg to unwanted things to home made goodies,  we found this little stall selling little badges, how cool.

One thing Walberwick is infamous for is crabbing.  We now have our own crabbing kit and love crabbing as it is loads of fun, we caught loads of crabs big and small.  Sophie seemed to have the perfect knack and caught the most.  Ella who couldn't catch any crabs was still intrigued by the buckets of squiggling crabs.

After tempting the crustaceans out of the river with slabs of bacon i showed Sophie how to get up close to the crabby kind, she didn't need to be asked twice and loved holding the crabs.  However daddy was petrified and refuse to hold one Ha Ha !  of course we had to tip out the crabs and watch them scuttle off back down to the river.  

Seaside crowns

We are getting in the holiday spirit and wishing we were by the seaside so to keep up the seaside spirit until we get there we thought we would make some seaside crowns and to help us our friends from Baker Ross sent us these inspiring seaside shapes £2.25 for 10 which the girls got stuck into right away painting them up in the wonderful Pearlised acrylic paints £9.99 for 6 colours you can see us using the paints here as we made pirate swords and Thank the teacher presents.  Even Ella got involved as she loves watching and copying her big sister and her big sister loves to guide her in what to do and Ella's little fingers were perfect for picking up small Self adhesive acrylic jewelry £2.99 for 200.   Both Girls had lots of fun and wore their crowns, Apparently Sophie was Queen seaside and Ella was Princess crabby !!
